IPL Winners 2022- Gujarat Titans
IPL 2022 Winners – GT beat RR by 7 wickets
Gujarat Titans became the second team (after Rajasthan Royals in 2008) in the history of the IPL to win the competition in their debut IPL season when they defeated the Rajasthan Royals in the final of the 2022 edition of the tournament. It was another of those thrillers that went right down to the wire and Rajasthan Royals were seen blowing an intense competition to their rival GT. This match also made the world record for the biggest crowd attendance in a t20 match. The match was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium(Ahmedabad, Gujarat) on May 29, 2022, and was attended by 101,566 people, creating a new world record.
Batting first after winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals managed to score a total of 130 runs with a loss of 9 wickets. Their openers struggled to create a partnership, hence due to a lack of a decent partnership they could get to a total of 130 runs. Captain Sanju Samson tried to accelerate the innings by scoring two boundaries off the very first three deliveries. But this couldn’t go for long, as he was caught by Kishore off the bowling of Hardik Pandya. Jos Buttler was their leading run-scorer, scoring 39 runs in 35 balls with a strike rate of 111.43.
It was an excellent bowling performance by the captain of Gujarat Titans, Hardik Pandya, who took 3 wickets in his spell by giving only 17 runs, resulting in a low-scoring target for them to chase.
GT road to victory
Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill opened the innings for Gujarat. The Partnership was broken early in the second over by Prasidh Krishna sending Saha to pavilion. Gujarat struggled initially when the score was 23 runs for the loss of two wickets. Then the skipper Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill made an important partnership of 63 runs that proved to be an important milestone for them. Pandya was out in the 14th over by Yuzvendra Chahal. To ensure their victory, David Miller scored 32 runs in 19 deliveries, making the Titans reach the score of 133 runs for the loss of three wickets, winning the match by 7 wickets with 11 balls remaining.
Rajasthan Royals were the 2008 champions when they had beaten the Chennai Super Kings in the final.
